On this first anniversary of the Boston Marathon bombing, Muslim Americans accross the nation have joined together in remembering its victims. Many of America's most prominent Islamic organizations have publicly expressed their condolences and prayers with the loved ones of those who were killed and injured in that senseless attack.
“On this day, we hope that the idea of Boston Strong continues to unite us as Americans and highlights America’s strength in her diversity,” said Salam Al-Marayat, President of the Muslim Public Affairs Council (MPAC).
On that tragic day and in the days after the attack, all Americans stood together to mourn the victims and demonstrate that our nations unity will not be broken by such horrific violence. Muslim Americans were among the runners in the marathon as well as part of the rescue and medical efforts that saved lives, and we stand with Bostonians in remaining Boston Strong on this symbolic day.
The White House will host an event on April 15 at Harvard's Kennedy School of Government commemorating the tragic incident. Haris Tarin, Director of MPAC’s Washington, DC office is one of the invited guest. The event will include Lisa Monaco, Assistant to President Obama for Homeland Security and Counterterrorism; Alejandro Mayorkas, Deputy Secretary at the Department of Homeland Security; and, Farah Pandith, Harvard Fellow and Special Representative to Muslim Communities at the Department of State. |
